Working parents have so many facets to their lives it can be difficult to balance them all. Finding the balance between work, home and family can feel like an impossible task, let alone setting any time aside for yourself.

Unfortunately, the rise of smartphones and tech has led to us constantly being plugged into work, and the line where work life begins and ends is so blurred there might as well not be one. We’re expected to respond to emails in the evening and deal with work issues in our spare time.

Thankfully though, your phone doesn’t just have to be a tool for work, there are tonnes of apps out there to help you in every way possible, whether it’s to help get a better night’s sleep, plan a day out for the family or find some time for yourself. We’ve listed some of the best apps for parents.

ArtKive: Art

ArtKive is an awesome mobile app that every parent should use if they are looking for a way to reduce the clutter of collecting their children’s artwork at home. When your child comes home with artwork from school, you can take an image of their work. That image can then be tagged and stored. You can save all of the artwork through the app and even turn your child’s creations into a creative keepsake art book. Additionally, parents can use the artwork on printed calendars or coffee mugs, which can make great gifts.

White Noise

As the name suggests, this app is designed to help you sleep by playing white noise. The idea is that by playing a constant, relaxing sound throughout the night, whether that be pouring rain or crashing waves, you’re more likely to fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and not be disturbed during the night.

On top of this, White Noise has a huge range of features to help babies get to sleep and stay asleep with ambient sounds such as ‘car ride’ and ‘conch shell’. There are tonnes of other features perfect for parents, ensuring everyone gets a great night’s sleep.

Hoop

Hoop is a fantastic app if you struggle to fill each weekend with new and exciting things to do. Hoop lists all the cool things going on that might be of interest to kids and families, helps you find which are local, and which activities are free. Think of it as a kid-friendly Time Out. So if you need some inspiration or are worrying how you’re going to prevent boredom this summer holiday, it might be worth checking out this app!

UrbanSitter

With the rise of on-demand services in travel, food, and online shopping, it’s unsurprising that eventually there would be a similar app for babysitting. UrbanSitter lets you easily find trusted babysitters and nannies quickly and for the same day. Check out the babysitters used and recommended by your friends and read parent reviews so you’re comfortable; and once you’re happy it’s really simple to book. UrbanSitter simplifies booking a babysitter, leaving you to a well earned night off.

Mint

Mint is a great way to effortlessly manage your money in one place. Easily create budgets, track and pay bills, receive alerts and schedule payments on the spot. Mint is an app which friends have suggested I mention as it’s so simple to use and can easily help save you time.
